Latest Trends in Vending Business

Obesity is a growing concern across the globe and most importantly among children of all age groups. Obesity is on a rise across the globe but more in US. The main reason being change in lifestyles and eating habits. It is really agonizing to notice that even school children are falling prey to diabetics. What could be the reason? Increased consumption of junk food and little or absolutely zero physical activity are the main reasons. Obesity has several adverse effects on our health and makes us more susceptible to heart and other deadly diseases.

Of late vending industry has been considered to be the main cause for increasing obesity. Obesity no doubt is a deep routed problem and cannot be solved immediately in a day or two. There are several factors that lead to obesity and hence it is improper to blame vending industry alone. Increasing rate of obesity has enlightened customers and made them more conscious about their diet. This is one reason why customers are now switching to low carbohydrate and low fat nutritious food.

This is an opportunity in disguise to vending operators. They need to be ever alert to make use of such changes in customer’s food and eating habits for their own benefit. This can be done by offering healthy and nutritious food in order to cater to the changing needs of customers. Here are the top five among latest trends that are to be adopted by vending operators:

• Eating healthy food: Vending operators should make required changes to promote healthy eating.

• Low carbohydrate food: Since customers are counting on the intake of carbohydrates, operators need to offer low carbohydrate and high protein products.

• Healthy food: Schools and parents are encouraging healthy food for children and are replacing junk food with healthy products. Operators should make use of this opportunity.

• Change in lifestyles: More and more individuals are seeking to make changes in their eating habits to lead healthier life styles. Customers are looking for products that can control their cholesterol and body fats.

Vending can be a successful business as long as operators keep themselves updated with changing markets and make modifications in accordance with customer’s tastes and preferences.

Thoughtful posting....I tried offering "Trail Mix" at one of my vending locations in order to be health food conscious. It didn't sell ... so I went back and replaced it with candy, and sales took off. So I agree that we need to keep our fingers on the pulse of the consumer - but vendors are not going to be able to lead the public down a healthier path, the consumer is going to have to choose it.
